The Laws
To protect the consumerīs privacy, an Act was adopted in Belgium on December 8, 1992, greatly affecting the Direct Marketing sector. Furthermore, in October of 1995, a European Directive was prepared. The Belgian Act is now amended to bring it in line with this directive. The implementation of this directive is published on february 13th 2001. Sopres respects and promotes the legal regulations protecting the rights of the consumers. Ethics
The privacy legislation is complex. However, it is important for you to know that the legislation does not obstruct your and our direct marketing activities, if certain regulations are observed. The Belgian Direct Marketing Association prepared its own professional ethical rules, besides the legal regulations for collecting and saving consumer information. It has become mandatory for any member to use the Robinson list The wish of consumers not to receive commercial messages must be respected - by mail (Robinson mail), by fax (Robinson fax), by phone (Robinson phone) or by e-mail (Robinson e-mail).
